 Range 22, $72,046-$91,952 per year

 Plus $2,825 Master’s or $3,725 Doctorate Stipend

Purpose Statement

The job of Coordinator -Learning Community for Native Success is done for the purposes of coordinating leadership services and related activities for a variety of instructional services, monitoring and supporting the implementation of the Learning Community for Student Success grant; providing information to others; and implementing and maintaining services within established guidelines and standards.

This job reports to the Assigned Administrator/Supervisor.

 Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with others (e.g. SCOE personnel, district personnel, community organizations, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
  • Coordinates program components, support needs and materials (e.g. negotiating contracts with vendors, reserving space, school districts in county, etc.) for the purpose of meeting District and/or grant/program guidelines, including supervision of liaisons for the Learning Communities for School Success Program.
  • Facilitates support for district teachers, administrators, staff, and students for the purpose of meeting the goals of the program and state standards.
  • Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (e.g. budgetary, train the trainer model, student attendance data, grants, units of study, up-to-date standards, literacy files, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
  • Monitors fund balances of assigned programs and related financial activity (e.g. grants, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
  • Participates, as designated, in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars (e.g. SARB Quarterly meetings, Foster Youth State Collaboratives, American Indian Advisory etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Prepares a variety of mandated reports for tracking program effectiveness for the purpose of ensuring ongoing funding by complying with district and/or grant/program requirements.
  • Presents information to State, County Board of Education, District School Boards, and Community groups (e.g. program offerings, funding status, participation levels, professional development, program implementation, etc.) for the purpose of promoting program, gaining feedback and complying with established internal controls.
  • Provides technical assistance to educational partners (district personnel, parents, students and teachers) for the purpose of enabling effective, ongoing communication between identified parents, students and schools for accessing supports for school success.
  • Researches, writes and presents grant information (e.g. Attendance Data, Native American Youth Data, etc.) for the purpose of securing funding.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of California Education Code and legislation pertaining to Native American students.

Other Functions

  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing conflict resolution techniques; operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; applying curriculum and instructional techniques; comparing results; conducting meetings; counseling and mentoring employees; and facilitating meetings.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.  Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar and punctuation; grant administration; community resources; district policies and procedures; issues relating to at-risk youth; accounting practices; business telephone etiquette; codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; methods of instruction and training; practicing cultural competency while working collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals; and stages of child development.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; directing the use of budgeted funds within a work unit. Utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization’s services.

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing.  The job is performed under minimal temperature variations.

Experience      Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Education        Bachelor's degree in job-related area.

Equivalency    Any combination equivalent to Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma and six (6)years of increasingly responsible experience in educational and/or Native American programs.

The stated education and experience requirements are the preferred minimum qualifications for this job.   However, relevant experience to substitute for the education requirement and relevant education, certificates and/or licenses to substitute for the experience requirement may be allowed.
