Job Description English Teacher Full-Time Teacher Full-Time, Exempt Position Direct Supervisor: Program Director About the School: The French-American School of Silicon Valley (FASSV) provides a multi-lingual, well-rounded education for its students. We pride ourselves on the strength of our faculty, the diversity of our student body, and our cultural richness. About the Position: Our English teachers at FASSV teach mathematics, social emotional learning, English language arts and social studies through a direct teaching, and inquiry-based learning format. We are currently using iReady mathematics, Heggerty Bridge to Reading and Writing and a mixture of EL Education and Fish Tank Learning in ELA grades 2 - 8. All students take 50/50 English and French classes with FLA, science, PE, music and technology also taught in French language. This position is a tentative role and is part of our pool of teachers. Essential Duties: Plan and teach a challenging course of study in a developmentally-appropriate manner, with an emphasis on differentiating instruction and the effective use of assessments. Prior use of workshop model and/or experience with engagement strategies a plus. Create an inclusive and positive classroom environment to promote learning. Utilize the Responsive Classroom Framework for classroom systems and engagement protocols. Understanding of various curricula such as iReady mathematics, c3 Social Studies Framework, Heggerty, EL Education and Fish Tank Learning. Develop and maintain outstanding communication with parents via individualized emails, newsletters, apps or blogs. Familiarity or willing to learn Google Education Apps. Efficiently share evaluations, grades and homework assignments with parents (when applicable). Actively engage students in learning by creating a learner-centered classroom. Use technology in class preparation and/or instruction, while not relying solely on it. Familiar
