Job Summary

The 4th Grade Homeroom Teacher is responsible for creating a structured, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment where young students can grow academically, socially, and spiritually. The teacher provides daily instruction in all core subject areas, partners with families, and collaborates with colleagues to support student success.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Instruction & Curriculum

    • Establish and maintain clear classroom routines and structures that promote a safe and productive learning environment.

    • Teach all core content areas, including Religion, English Language Arts (ELA), Math, and integrated Science/Social Studies.

    • Adhere to required instructional minutes:

      • Religion: 200 minutes per week

      • ELA: 750 minutes per week

      • Math: 250–300 minutes per week

      • Science/Social Studies: Integrated throughout the week

    • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

    • Submit weekly lesson plans with clearly highlighted standards for Math and ELA.

    • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date grade book.

    • Provide constructive and timely feedback to students and parents.

    • Regularly analyze STAR data and other formative assessments to drive instruction. 

    • Prepare students to receive their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

  2. Classroom Management & Student Support

    • Treat all students with respect, dignity, and care.

    • Foster positive relationships that support students’ social-emotional growth.

    • Collaborate with the instructional assistant to ensure alignment in classroom expectations, including:

      • Preparing materials

      • Leading or supporting small groups

      • Working individually with students

      • Supporting classroom management routines

    • Collaborate with specials teachers to address student behaviors and implement consistent support strategies.

  3. Communication & Collaboration

    • Communicate with parents on a weekly basis regarding classroom learning and important updates.

    • Partner with families to support academic and behavioral growth.

    • Provide constructive, solution-oriented feedback to parents when concerns arise.

    • Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings.

    • Engage professionally and collaboratively with colleagues.

  4. Additional Duties

    • Perform up to two yard duty assignments per week.

    • Support school-wide initiatives and contribute positively to the school community.

    • Conduct Parent-Teacher conferences.

    • Attend Professional Development days hosted by the Diocese. 

    • Volunteer to participate on one school committee. 

    • Organize and prepare students for Walk Through California. 

    • Organize and attend Gold Camp in the Spring.


 

Requirements / Qualifications

1. Must hold a valid CA Teaching Credential or in the process of obtaining one 2. Experience working with elementary-aged children
