Requirements / Qualifications
Instructions: Complete an online EDJoin application and attach all required documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered for an interview. In addition, applicants are required by law to complete the Mandatory Employment Disclosure by listing all previous Local Education Agency (LEA) employment, including school districts, county offices of education, charter schools, and state special schools. Please complete the online EDJoin application and attach copies of the following document: • High School Diploma or equivalent • Valid California driver’s license or State or Federal identification. • CPR and First aid certification. • Minimum of 48 college units or passage of District proficiency test. Any combination equivalent to and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities required for this position.
This position requires a valid High School Diploma or valid equivalency established by an accredited institution/agency within the United States. Applications that do not include a valid degree/HS Diploma will not be considered. If you would like to receive credit for a foreign degree, you may submit your foreign degree to an approved education evaluation service. Any cost of evaluation is the candidate’s responsibility. • American Sign Language and/or Total Communication Model/Simultaneous Communication (SimCom).
• Correct English, grammar, spelling and punctuation, and mathematics.
• Oral and/or signing skills and written communication skills.
• Basic instructional methodologies.
• Simple clerical and filing methods.
Ability to:
• Learn best practices in educating students in the deaf and hard of hearing program.
• Assist students in the deaf and hard of hearing program in a flexible and understanding manner.
• Supervise students according to school rules and procedures.
• Understand and follow oral and written directions.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Communicate effectively with others.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Demonstrate competency in signing.
• Prepare instructional materials for student use.
• Maintain records and files.
• Perform the essential functions of the job.
• Work with constant interruptions.
