The Assistant Principal is responsible, in accordance with District and school goals, for curriculum development, implementation of programs, evaluation of staff and programs, and the revision as well as the development of courses of study. In addition, the Assistant Principal should be aware of the unique needs of special education students, child welfare and attendance laws, and other special categorically funded areas. The administrator is to assist the Principal in organizing and administering a program which will provide an atmosphere conducive to the total development of students and to participate in maintaining a positive public image of the schools within the District.
QUALIFICATIONS
Credential: Required - Valid Standard Administrative, Secondary Administrative or General Administrative Services Credential or currently enrolled in an approved administrative program.
Education: Required - B.A. or B.S.
Desired - M.A. or M.S.
Other Qualifications: Must possess a valid California Driver's License at the time of hire.
Experience: Three successful years as a teacher at the secondary level. Desired - Service in a variety of leadership or administrative capacities at the secondary level.
Personal Qualifications: Character, personality, appearance and proper social capability to relate effectively with staff, students and community; demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of groups and organizations.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
*In the absence of the Principal, may assume the Principal's duties and responsibilities;
*Direct, coordinate and evaluate the school general program;
*Coordinate state, federal and district reports;
*Coordinate Articulation program with intermediate schools, high schools, junior colleges and youth-serving agencies;
*Assist with site financial needs and budget planning;
*Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate site inservice and pilot programs;
*Coordinate summer school;
*Coordinate student control and discipline programs; and
*Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff.

Effective 7.1.2025:
2025-2026: Salary schedule increase of 2% and a 2% off-schedule payment at year-end.
2026–2027: Salary schedule increase of 60% of the statutory funded COLA, plus any funded ongoing augmentations as provided in the State Budget Act; 2% off-schedule payment at year-end.
2027–2028: Salary schedule increase of 50% of the statutory funded COLA, plus any funded ongoing augmentations as provided in the State Budget Act; 2% off-schedule payment at year-end
