The Home Hospital Teacher provides individualized academic instruction to students who are temporarily unable to attend school due to medical, physical, or emotional health conditions. In alignment with the mission of the Luther Burbank School District, this position ensures students continue to receive equitable access to instruction and maintain academic progress during periods of medical leave. Under the direction of the site administrator and in collaboration with classroom teachers, the Home Hospital Teacher provides instruction aligned with district curriculum and California state standards. Instruction may occur in the student’s home, hospital, or another approved location. Responsibilities include adapting lessons to meet individual student needs, maintaining regular communication with families and school staff, monitoring student progress, and supporting a smooth transition back to the classroom when the student returns to school. The ideal candidate demonstrates flexibility, strong communication and organizational skills, compassion, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with school teams. A valid California teaching credential and knowledge of grade-level standards are required. This is on an as needed basis for the 2025-2026 school year.
