Job Summary
Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the teacher provides directed learning experiences in academic skills, social skills, living skills, job skills and career planning for general and special education students attending the Community School, the Independent Study Program or students detained in the San Luis Obispo County Juvenile Services Center. Oversees testing and career counseling services. Directs support staff and volunteers in the classroom. Assists and works as a team with the County Probation Department and Mental Health Department staff assigned to the Community School. Assists and works as a team with the County Probation Department staff assigned to the Juvenile Services Center with security and rehabilitation of the youth; plans and implements a program for each student. Participates in the IEP process, including but not limited to; assessment, development, review, and implementation of IEPs. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
MATERIALS Required: 1. A valid California teaching credential authorizing services to students with mild/moderate or moderate/severe disabilities. 2. A valid California teaching credential authorizing services to students in general education. 3. Experience and/or training in the guidance of at-promise youth. 4. Knowledge and experience in design and implementation of behavior modification techniques. 5. A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 6. A valid California driver’s license.
