Representative Duties:
The following duties are typical of those performed by faculty in this classification. Other duties may be assigned as appropriate.
This is a full-time tenure track position teaching English including both composition and literature courses and dual enrollment courses. This assignment includes teaching courses throughout the English curriculum and actively participating in department and college responsibilities including curriculum development, assessment of outcomes, regular professional development, and collegial processes. The successful candidate will utilize recognized methodologies that support student success and be part of an engaged campus community.
• Incorporate equitable teaching practices within all courses taught in the discipline.
• Participate in campus and departmental activities that encourage students to pursue discipline-related transfer and/or career pathways.
• Teach courses during the evenings and weekends, if required.
• Assess Student Learning Outcomes to guide continuous improvement in curriculum and instruction.
• Work collegially with faculty and staff of the department, division, and college to advance student success.
• Communicate and provide more individualized support to students during regularly scheduled office hours and beyond the classroom setting.
• Design and deliver instruction that utilizes and promotes peer support, reflects equity, inclusion, and accessibility while meeting the needs of a diverse student population.
• Maintain and submit accurate records.
• Take an active role in faculty shared governance and support the broader mission of the college through service and leadership.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: (To be specified in accordance with California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office Faculty Minimum Qualifications)
Master's in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition
OR
Bachelor's in any of the above
AND
Master's in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing or journalism

AND
Experience that indicates a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and learning disabilities.
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience in teaching diverse student populations
• Ability and Willingness to Teach Full Range of English Courses
• Experience in teaching diverse learning styles and engagement strategies
• Demonstrated commitment to equity and addressing Inequality
Employment Requirements
The person selected for hire will be required to complete the following pre-employment requirements:
