Job Summary

SMCSD is looking for a dynamic and experienced music teacher for TK-8th grades. This is a full-time position. The music teacher will help students develop an appreciation of and ability to perform music through a variety of musical experiences that include singing, moving to music, listening, and playing of instruments (percussion, Orff, ukulele and recorder, for example). • Proven ability to present a dynamic and creative multi-cultural music curriculum within multiple modalities and musical styles. • Student-centered approach with strong classroom management skills. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact positively with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians. • Experience with the Orff Schulwerk approach preferred (but not required). • Ability to create an engaging and enjoyable learning environment that inspires students to develop a love of music. • Planning and preparing students for performances.
