The Museum School is seeking a dedicated and versatile Instructional Assistant (IA) to join our collaborative educational team. In the Museum Model, the IA plays a critical role in bridging the gap between high-level project concepts and individual student mastery. You are the "boots on the ground" support that ensures every student has the guidance they need to succeed in our rigorous, inquiry-based environment. As an Instructional Assistant, your role is fluid and dynamic. You will work closely with lead teachers to facilitate small-group learning, provide one-on-one interventions, and maintain a safe, joyful school culture throughout the day. Areas of Support & Assignment Instructional Assistants at The Museum School are strategically placed based on student needs and school goals. Your assignment may focus on one of the following areas: • Grade-Level Support: Working within a specific grade (e.g., TK/Kindergarten or 3rd Grade) to assist with the daily flow of a self-contained classroom. • Content-Specific Support (Math): Focusing on numeracy and mathematical reasoning, helping students navigate complex problem-solving and hands-on data projects. • Social-Emotional Support: Partnering with students to develop self-regulation skills, conflict resolution strategies, and interpersonal growth within the classroom community.

Areas of Support & Assignment
Instructional Assistants at The Museum School are strategically placed based on student needs and school goals. Your assignment may focus on one of the following areas:
- Grade-Level Support: Working within a specific grade (e.g., TK/Kindergarten or 3rd Grade) to assist with the daily flow of a self-contained classroom.
- Content-Specific Support (Math): Focusing on numeracy and mathematical reasoning, helping students navigate complex problem-solving and hands-on data projects.
- Social-Emotional Support: Partnering with students to develop self-regulation skills, conflict resolution strategies, and interpersonal growth within the classroom community.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Facilitation: Lead small groups during "Studio Time" or "Research Blocks" to reinforce lessons taught by the Lead Teacher.
- Classroom Management: Assist in maintaining an organized, productive learning environment that mirrors a professional museum or laboratory.
- Supervision & Safety: Provide active supervision during recess and lunch, ensuring student safety while encouraging positive social interactions and inclusive play.
- Differentiation: Help adapt materials and activities to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those with IEPs or 504 plans.
- Exhibition Support: Assist students in the physical creation and installation of their museum-quality projects and public displays.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or 60+ college credits preferred (especially in Education, Psychology, or Math).
- Experience: Previous experience working with children in a school, camp, or museum setting is highly valued.
- Skills: * Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A "can-do" attitude and the ability to pivot between tasks quickly.
- Basic proficiency in Math and Literacy to support student inquiries.
- Disposition: A deep-seated belief in the potential of every child and a passion for experiential, non-traditional learning.
