Requirements / Qualifications
This position is currently only available for internal candidates. Under the direction of the Facilities Manager and Lead Grounds Maintenance Worker, candidate will perform a variety of grounds maintenance duties to maintain landscaped areas, lawns and fields. Individuals holding this position will be responsible for the overall upkeep and maintenance of the grounds at multiple elementary/middle school building sites in the district. Candidate will work in an outdoor work environment, subject to seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions, subject to noise from equipment operation, regular exposure to fumes, dust and odors, and will drive a vehicle to conduct work. Physical abilities must consist of bending at the waist, climbing, lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75 pounds, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate grounds maintenance hand and power tools and equipment, kneeling or crouching, digging, and walking over uneven surfaces. Qualifications: Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above and two years Grounds Maintenance experience. Candidate must have knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in a variety of ground maintenance, irrigation systems installation, maintenance and repair; chemical control of insects, pests and weed and general grounds maintenance. Candidate must be familiar with grounds maintenance procedures including planting, pruning and preparing athletic fields. Candidate must have knowledge of general health and safety procedures related to grounds maintenance. A candidate with knowledge of basic record-keeping techniques is essential. Possession of a valid California Driver’s License to drive district vehicles and transport equipment and supplies is required.
