Job Summary
An Extended School Year (ESY) Elementary Teacher provides specialized summer instruction to students with moderate to severe disabilities to maintain critical academic, functional, communication, behavioral, and social-emotional skills outlined in their IEPs. Responsibilities include delivering individualized, structured instruction; implementing accommodations, behavior intervention plans, assistive technology, and AAC supports; supporting activities of daily living and sensory needs; collaborating with related service providers and paraprofessionals; monitoring and documenting student progress; and ensuring a safe, consistent learning environment that prevents regression and promotes skill generalization and continued growth. Position is 4 hours a day, 5 days a week from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. Dates are 06/08/2026 - 07/06/26 with no school on 6/19 and 7/3.

The Walnut Creek School District is located in Northern California in the Bay Area. We operate five K-5 neighborhood elementary schools (three with TK), one K-8 school, and one 6-8 intermediate school. Grades TK-5 are primarily self-contained, while grades 6-8 offer a mixture of core and elective classes. The district serves a population of approximately 3,600 students within the city of Walnut Creek.
