Job Summary: Newcastle Elementary School District is seeking a certificated Education Specialist to provide instruction and services for students participating in the District’s Extended School Year (ESY) program. This position will serve a small cohort of students whose Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) require ESY services. The ESY teacher will provide Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) and implement IEP goals in a structured, supportive summer learning environment. The Director of Special Education will serve as case manager and oversee the program. Primary Responsibilities: • Provide instruction aligned to students’ IEP goals and objectives • Deliver Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) as required by IEPs • Collaborate with related service providers as needed • Maintain appropriate documentation of services • Communicate with families regarding student progress during ESY • Participate in planning and coordination meetings with the Director of Special Education Required Qualifications: • Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential appropriate to assigned students (Mod/Severe authorization preferred based on student needs) • Valid California teaching credential • English Learner authorization • Demonstrated experience working with students with disabilities Preferred Qualifications: • Experience implementing IEPs in small-group or specialized settings • Experience with ESY programs • Strong collaboration and communication skills Work Schedule and Compensation: Approximately 19 half-days (June 8 - July 2). Compensation per negotiated summer/ESY rate in accordance with the Newcastle Teachers Association agreement.
