Summary of Position: This position works with pupils whose needs have been identified in, or are being considered for, an individualized education program (IEP). This position is supervised by the Director of Student Services and works directly with school site administrators, general education teachers, and other student services team members. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: The Education Specialist demonstrates knowledge of special education laws, inclusive instructional practices, and evidence-based strategies for supporting students with mild to moderate disabilities. The educator applies principles of differentiated instruction, social-emotional learning, and positive behavior supports to promote student access, engagement, and growth. This role requires strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, general and special education staff, and multidisciplinary teams; and proficiency in special education data systems and instructional technology.
