Requirements / Qualifications

Experience: • Two years of experience in quantity baking, cooking, salad preparation, and food service facility maintenance in a commercial, institutional or school food service facility. • Responsible for maintaining annual job specific education/training that complies with the USDA mandated School Nutrition Professional Standards, Four Key Areas: Nutrition, Operations, Administration, and Communication/Marketing • Coursework and training in Foodservice Sanitation, HACCP, Safety and Emergency Response, and Supervision Management techniques • Food Safety Manager Certificate, or equivalent, approved by the state of California • Complete the annual required hours for the USDA Professional Standards • Valid California Classic Requirements driver’s license • DMV Printout within the last 3 months • Insurability by the District's liability employment insurance carrier • Insurability by the District's liability employment insurance carrier Education: • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade • Training or coursework in nutrition, quantity food preparation, menu planning, safety, sanitation or other closely related areas

  • Food Handler's Certificate (Manager Approved by the state of California)

The East Whittier City School District provides educational opportunities (transitional kindergarten through eighth grade, including special education) for approximately 9,000 children. The District employs approximately 1,075 teachers, administrators and support staff. We have 13 schools which operate on a traditional school year schedule.
