Job Summary Big Picture Advisor The Big Picture Advisor serves as the primary academic advisor, mentor, and advocate for a small cohort of students. Advisors build strong, long-term relationships with students and families while personalizing learning plans aligned to the Big Picture Learning model. This role integrates academic instruction, social-emotional support, and real-world learning experiences to ensure every student is known well and supported holistically. Advisors work with the same group of students over multiple years, guiding them through personalized learning plans, internships, exhibitions, and postsecondary preparation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Serve as the primary advisor for a cohort of students, fostering strong, trusting relationships Develop and implement Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs) aligned to student interests, strengths, and postsecondary goals Facilitate project-based, interdisciplinary learning experiences Support students in identifying, securing, and reflecting on real-world learning opportunities (e.g., internships, mentorships) Monitor academic progress, attendance, and social-emotional well-being Communicate regularly with families and caregivers Collaborate with colleagues to align instruction, support services, and school-wide goals Facilitate student-led exhibitions, conferences, and presentations of learning Maintain accurate documentation and student records Participate in professional development related to the Big Picture Learning design Qualifications Required: Valid California teaching credential (or ability to obtain one) Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Commitment to equity, relationship-based teaching, and personalized learning Preferred: Experience with project-based learning, advisory models, or alternative educ
