Requirements / Qualifications
SALARY SCHEDULE: Classified Salary Range: 46 Work Calendar: 261 Days Work Hours: 10 am - 7 pm (8 hours/day) Work Location: Transportation Department Effective Start Date: July 2026 EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School diploma or equivalent. Proof of completion of heavy-duty truck or automotive program. Possession, or ability and qualifications to obtain, Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification within six (06) months of employment. Failure to do so will result in termination. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Two (2) years of experience as a Mechanic Specialist; including journeyman experience in diesel and gasoline powered vehicles, CNG, and diagnostic repairs. LICENSE(S) REQUIRED: Possession of a valid California Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements and remain insurable at the District’s standard insurance market rate. Current DMV report. U.S. Department of Transportation DL-51 Medical Examiner’s Certificate *Materials Required at the time of applying:* 1. Completed application 2. Resume 3. Proof of High School Diploma or Equivalency or higher degree earned (copy of official transcript OR copy of diploma is acceptable) 4. Proof of completion of heavy-duty truck or automotive program 5. Copy of valid California Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License 6. Copy of Medical Examiner’s Certificate 7. DMV Printout (dated within 30 days of the application submission date) 8. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification (if completed)
