Job Summary
The School Counselor provides direct support to teachers, parents, and students so that they will successfully and confidently navigate their academic journey at Excel Academy as well as achieve their goals beyond high school. The School Counselor will oversee graduation requirements and credits, including GPA, and transcripts, train teachers of record (TORs) on college and career readiness and 4-year graduation plans, and advocate for the needs of students, based on school and district data. The School Counselor will collaborate and communicate with other departments regularly, taking feedback from the team and using that feedback to guide decisions. Additional duties will be assigned as needed to serve and support the functions of the Education Department and other school operations. There is one remote position available. Requirements / Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Bachelor’s Degree Two (2) years of directly related experience is preferred A valid, current Clear California PPS Credential for School Counseling. A copy of Credential to be provided and kept current. Upon offer: Hold and maintain a valid California Driver’s License; proof of automobile insurance; and full time use of a dependable automobile that is insured pursuant to California regulations. State and federal background clearance (LiveScan) to work with students (Education Code Section 44237). No prospective employee can report to work without this clearance being received and Human Resources notifying the immediate supervisor of this clearance. Proof of a clear TB test dated within the last 60 days (Education Code Section 49406) upon employment and thereafter updated every four years. Copy of Transcript (unofficial transcripts are accepted) Credential Copy (Current and Clear CA PPS School Counseling Credential) Letter of Introduction Letter(s) of Recommendation (Three current letters of recommendation.
