Job Summary

Job Summary

The intern school counseling position supports the school counseling program in the areas of academics, career, and social/emotional development in order to enhance the learning process for all students grades TK-8. As an intern in the Chowchilla Elementary School District you will learn to: • Be a part of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports and provide social, emotional, and behavioral interventions for all students. • Network and collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to develop and refine school counseling skills adhering to the National Association of School Counselor standards. • Participate in all district professional development opportunities. • Attend/participate in the Student Study Team (SST), 504, and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings and interventions. • Collect and utilize student and school data to determine needs, implement intervention, and monitor progress. • Deliver short-term school-based counseling services to general education students both individually and in small groups. • Plan and implement school-site counseling activities. • Deliver classroom guidance lessons to address academic, career, and social-emotional development. • Complete Student Suicide/Threat Risk Assessments to ensure student safety. • Collaborate with outside mental health and community agencies. • Provide in-service education to parents and school staff.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) Program in School Counseling • CA Internship Credential (PPS) or letter from college/university indicating eligibility in lieu of a credential • Copy of Transcript (Master’s Degree) • Letter of Introduction • Resume • One Letter of Recommendation (within the past two years)
