The Preuss School UC San Diego is seeking qualified Special Education teachers to join our applicant pool for anticipated openings in the 2026/2027 school year. The Preuss School at UC San Diego (http://preuss.ucsd.edu/) is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for low-income scholars who will become the first in their families to graduate from college. As a department within UC San Diego Academic Affairs, The Preuss School also serves as a model school to study and develop the best practices in preparation of scholars of diverse and under represented backgrounds to access higher education. Under the supervision of the Principal, The Preuss School Special Education teachers will provide quality services to special education scholars grades six (6) through twelve (12), through a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, co-teaching, tutorial assistance, and a consultation to general education staff. Plan, organize, control, and direct a variety of programs, projects, and activities related to the Special Education program for The Preuss School. Prepare student education plans in consultation with parents and IEP (Individual Education Plan) team members. Act as coordinator of IEP implementation with general education staff. Monitor student progress, participate in review and revision of IEP, as appropriate. Design instructions, both individual and small group, which parallels the general education curriculum. Assist other professional staff in diagnosis of learning disorders, development of planned remediation and evaluation of student progress. Maintain accurate special education records and logs for individual scholar.
