General Responsibilities:
The duties of District Librarian are to review, organize, and consolidate library collections from two closed school buildings into the district’s remaining school libraries. The District Librarian will also support essential library/media functions to ensure collections are accessible, well organized, and aligned with instructional needs.
Terms of Employment:
Assignment: Temporary and Non Continuing. 65-75 days for the 2025-2026 School Year only.
Salary: $20,538-$46,503 DOE
Not benefit eligible. -
Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:
- Review and assess library collections from closed school buildings for condition, relevance, and instructional alignment.
- Implement consolidation, redistribution, inventory, and shelving of materials into remaining school libraries.
- Recommend materials for weeding and disposal in accordance with district procedures.
- Organize and maintain library collections to promote accessibility and effective use.
- Update cataloging, classification, and inventory using district library systems.
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and staff across the district.
- Maintain accurate records related to inventory and consolidation activities.
- Performs other related duties for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the program.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.
- Strong organization skills and ability to manage a short-term, project-based assignment.
- Ability to lift and move books and materials with reasonable accommodation.
- Washington State Certification in Library/Media Science.
- Experience as a school librarian or library/media specialist.
- Experience with collection development, weeding, and library organization.
