Job description: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher who brings warmth, patience, and a deep understanding of diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, individualized support, and collaboration with general education teachers and families to help all students reach their fullest potential. This is a part-time position (0.5 FTE). Who We Are: Shade Canyon School is a new public charter school using the principles of Public Waldorf education and located in beautiful Kelseyville, California. The school opened in September 2023 on a leased site. We now have 85 students, grades TK-4th. Our enrollment for the 2026-27 school year is 105 students in grades TK-5. Summary of Position: Shade Canyon School in Kelseyville, California, is accepting applications for a part-time Special Education Teacher for the 2026–27 school year. The Special Education Teacher will support students with IEPs across multiple grade levels, providing specialized academic instruction and ensuring access to the general education curriculum through collaboration and individualized support. This teacher will be a founding member of the school’s growing Special Education program, helping to shape a culture of inclusion, equity, and whole-child learning aligned with the principles of Public Waldorf education. *Please see the job description button below for more information.
Requirements / Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree required • Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Clear Credential (Mild/Moderate Support Needs or equivalent) with a minimum of three years experience with positive evaluations from current and previous employers. • Waldorf certification or interest in Waldorf teacher training preferred • Experience in charter or Waldorf-inspired schools highly desirable • Local to Lake County preferred • Fluency in Spanish a plus
• Letter of Introduction and Resume • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation (written within the past 12 months) • Reference Check
