Requirements / Qualifications

Mater Dei High School, a Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory high school of the Diocese of Orange, has an immediate opening for a dedicated long-term substitute to teach six sections of MAPS courses in our Learning Center. MAPS (Monarch Academic Program for Success) is an academic support course for students with documented learning and attention differences and an Individualized Learning Plan. The ideal candidate will support students’ academic and executive-functioning needs through small-group instruction and one-on-one tutoring, assist with technology (iPads, Canvas, Aeries), monitor grades and planners, and collaborate closely with counselors, parents, and classroom teachers to develop individualized supports. This role also contributes to curriculum development for MAPS, participates in PLCs, faculty meetings, and school events (Back-to-School Night, parent sessions, etc.). Candidate should be dedicated to upholding the mission and values of Catholic education and the Catholic Church, as envisioned in Church documents and teachings, rooted in our core principles of Honor, Glory, and Love. Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Education, Sociology, Psychology, Child Development, etc.) and multiple or single subject credential required. Master’s Degree or related certification (e.g., Certified Educational Therapist) is preferred. Experience: Competency in subject matter, student-centered lesson planning, differentiated instruction, classroom management, and educational technology. At least one year of experience working with students in a middle school or high school academic environment is required. Experience working with high-functioning students with learning and attention differences. Understanding of classroom management, learning, and attention differences, and applying related strategies to assist with the academic development of students. Hours: Mon-Fri 7:45-3 pm
