Early Childhood Education Lead Teacher at Glendora Unified School District
Requirements / Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE OF: • Child guidance principles and practices and an understanding of the goals and objectives of a preschool program. • Emotional, physical, and mental variations and needs of preschool and elementary school aged children. • Curriculum development. • Basic subjects taught in the District schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language, and reading sufficient to direct students with learning exercises or projects. • Computer and multimedia equipment operations including common office productivity software, internet, and computer-aided teaching programs. • Creative writing skills to prepare and/or adapt age-appropriate class materials and reports. • Oral communication skills to convey concepts in classroom and community-based settings, and work cooperatively with a diverse population of children and parents. ABILITY TO: • Perform the responsibilities of the position including delivery of instruction in classroom and play settings. • Understand the needs and differences of children and to reach and motivate them. • Balance emotional support and discipline to deal with behavior problems. • Observe, categorize, evaluate, and critique the performance of preschool children. • Learn, interpret, and apply District, State, and Federal requirements and objectives for academic achievement. • Prepare curriculum and set up assignments, tests, and student projects. • Develop and maintain a productive and safe classroom environment. • Organize and prioritize work and manage time effectively. • Communicate in a professional manner, in both formal and informal settings with students, fellow staff, and parents.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Any combination equivalent to: completion of 40 approved college transfer units to include 24 college units in Child Development or Early Childhood education. May require an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s Degree with 12 college units in Child Development and earning a total 24 units of Child Development within the first year of hire. REQUIREMENTS: • May require a valid California Driver's License. • Teacher permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. • First Aid/CPR certification with pediatric endorsement.
