Music Teacher 2026-2027 School Year at Panama-Buena Vista Union Elementary
Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Valid California Teacher Credential with Music and CLAD/EL Authorization Bachelor's Degree with major or minor in music (Master's degree desired) Ability to play at least one standard orchestra instrument ( if instrumental teacher) or ability to sing (if choral teacher) Knowledge of musical structure, form, terminology, and conventions. Working knowledge of developmentally appropriate repertoire.Conducting skills, correct vocal production skills, and/or pedagogical techniques for all band/orechestra instruments. Communication skills and aural training to detect a discrepancy in pitch and intonation. Piano accompanying skills. Appearance, grooming, and personality establish a desirable model for pupils. Ability to meet district standards for physical and mental health. Better than average recommendations from student teaching supervisors or other professionals who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment, and classroom performance of the teacher. Must be able to adapt to working in spaces not normally used for group instruction when regular classroom space is not available.
