Job Summary
Panama-Buena Vista Union School District invites well-qualified candidates to apply for the position of Speech Specialist. The District is looking for a speech specialist who evaluates and treats school-aged children with verbal communications (speech and hearing) and cognitive disorders. Provides assessment, consultation, and in-service training to other caregivers and instructional support. The Speech Specialist is a professional position that requires specific training in speech and language therapy.
Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited college or university in Speech-Language Pathology, Communicative Disorder, or a closely aligned field or a valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, Education Specialist Instruction Credential, or older equivalent credential. Verification of application efforts to Commission-approved SLP Services Credential program. Ability to relate positively to children and instill in them a desire to improve. Ability to relate positively to parents, school personnel and other lay and professional people. Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner; present a favorable personal appearance; and demonstrate personality characteristics, which enhance effectiveness in a school setting. Ability to communicate effectively, with a pleasant voice and correct articulation; use appropriate, professional language skills in writing and speaking. Demonstrate positive attitude and desire to improve professional knowledge and competence.
