The Position:

 

• The Business faculty (Face to Face at both the Gilroy and Hollister, Dual Enrollment, and Higher Aspiration) - Full-time Tenure-Track Faculty Position - will teach courses across the Business and Management curriculum, including but not limited to: Introduction to Business, Business Law, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing, Business Communication, Human Resource Management, and Business Statistics. Instructions may be delivered face-to-face (day and evening), hybrid, and fully online modalities. This faculty will be the lead faculty for the Business department.

The ideal candidate will provide leadership in curriculum and program development, oversee Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) assessment and updates, and actively participate in program review, Advisory Board meetings, and departmental planning. The candidate will also collaborate with high schools, colleges, and universities to strengthen dual enrollment, articulation, and transfer pathways.

 

Essential Duties

 

Essential Duties:

 

• Teach 14-16 lecture-equivalent hours per semester, which will include in-person instruction at the Hollister and Gilroy campuses as well as hybrid and online teaching; may include evening and weekends. May also include teaching Dual Enrollment (high school) and/or Higher Aspirations (justice impacted) program courses, as needed.

• Create inclusive, student-centered learning environments that support the growth and success of diverse learners through thoughtful course preparation, effective teaching methodologies, and meaningful feedback.

• Cultivate relationships with students to support their growth through office hours and regular interaction (both in person and online).

• Create, assess, and update curriculum to meet the needs of diverse students in all modalities.

• Actively engage in department and division meetings, events, and initiatives.

• Contribute to campus committees and decision-making processes that support the college's mission and goals.

• Participate in ongoing professional learning, particularly around anti-racism, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

• Adhere to department, division, and district policies and procedures for faculty employees.

• Evaluate student work using clear criteria relevant to the course content and student learning outcomes and provide feedback to students in a timely manner.

• Develop and implement a variety of effective teaching and assessment methods including the use of computers and information technology to engage student interest and support for a variety of learning styles

• Develop effective online course materials and build online learning communities that meet accessible online course requirements and Title 5 §55211 Effective Contact Policy requirements.

• Maintain and submit accurate records according to published deadlines (i.e., grades, syllabi, attendance reports).

• Continue in related professional career development throughout employment and remain current in the field through course work, conferences, workshops and other appropriate means.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

• Master's in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education

 

OR

 

• Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.)

 

OR

 

• Bachelor's in economics with a business emphasis AND Master's in personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.)

 

OR

• the equivalent

• Demonstrated ability to develop and employ culturally relevant course content, anti-racist pedagogical techniques, and effective practices for engaging students who are diverse and/or from historically underrepresented groups.

Preferred Qualifications and Attributes:

 

• Recent, successful experience teaching college-level business courses, such as Introduction to Business, Business Law, Business Statistics, International Business, Business Analytics, Business Information Systems, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Finance, Business Communication, Management, and Marketing.

• Ability to teach the full range of courses listed in the Gavilan College catalog for the Business and Management programs.

• Experience teaching in dual enrollment, early college, or similar programs that support high school students' transition to college-level coursework.

• Commitment to remaining current with scholarship, research, and emerging trends in Business Education.

• Demonstrated use of innovative, student-centered teaching methodologies and instructional technologies that support diverse learners and promote student success.

• Dedication to professional responsibilities beyond the classroom, including active contributions to department, division, and college activities.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

• Ability to conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using Canvas or other methods of remote learning.

• Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.

• Strategically build support and participation among colleagues for equity-related initiatives.

• Teach through positive race-consciousness and embracing human difference.
