QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE • Completion of Bachelor’s degree; • Possession of a valid California School Nurse Services Credential and a valid Audiometric Certificate; • Possession of a valid State of California RN License and a current/valid CPR/AED Certificate; • Successful experience demonstrating tact, courtesy, positive attitude, and maintaining cooperative relationships with those contacted during work. OVERVIEW: The District Nurse provides leadership and support of district-wide health services and strengthens and facilitates the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of children. The major focus of the district nurse is the prevention of illness and disability, the early detection and correction of health problems, and the response to health crises. The district nurse is uniquely qualified in coordinating, planning, and implementing health-related services for students PreK-12. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist in the guidance, supervision, training, and evaluation of the school nursing team; • Consult with sites and/or attend site-based meetings as requested by the Student Support Team; • Provide professional learning for nurses, health clerks, and other staff supervising the health office; • Develop clear systems of monitoring service provision, data collection, and evaluation of nursing services; • Conduct immunization programs pursuant to California Education Code, Section 49403, of the California Code of Regulations; • Assess and evaluate the health and developmental status of pupils, including reviewing cumulative health records to identify pupils' health needs and developing appropriate health plans; • Interpret the health and developmental assessment to parents, teachers, administrators, and other professionals directly concerned with the pupil; • Design and implement individual student health maintenance plans, incorporating plans directed by a physician; • See more in job description attached below.
