Job Summary
Under general supervision of the site principal, to perform routine cleaning work in school, office or district buildings; and to do related work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES • Working from a prepared work schedule, sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes concrete, linoleum, tile and wood floors; vacuums rugs and carpets in offices, nurse's and faculty rooms, classrooms, shop buildings, gymnasiums, libraries, recreation rooms, auditoriums, dining rooms, cafeterias, hallways, ramps, and stairways • Cleans and dusts walls, furniture, woodwork and other equipment • Picks up paper and other refuse outside buildings on cleaning route and sweeps walks, and entrances, as needed • Cleans windows, door glass, and drinking fountains • Cleans and polishes metal work such as door panels and hand railings • Empties and cleans waste containers • Assists in moving or rearranging chairs, tables, desks, furniture, and other equipment • Replaces lights or light fixture covers • Maintains equipment used in the course of work • Reports safety, sanitary, and fire hazards to site principal • Informs day custodian of minor repairs or adjustments needed to classroom furniture • During winter, spring, and summer breaks, performs the duties of the Custodian/Maintenance/Grounds employee • Related custodial duties as assigned by principal or District administrator PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Essential duties require, but are not limited to the following physical abilities (consideration will be given to reasonable accommodation, with or without the use of aids): • Sufficient vision to read printed materials, adjust focus, and perceive distances and depth • Sufficient mobility to stoop, reach, climb, kneel and move about • Use hands and fingers to feel and grasp • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds OTHER REQUIREMENTS • Possess a valid California Driver’s license • Fingerprint clearance prior to employment • TB clearance prior to employment
