THE POSITION: The Coordinator II, Beginning Teacher Programs, shall provide technical, specialized, advisory, and planning services in professional development/ participate in the development of strategic, operational plans and program activities/ assist in providing direction and technical evaluation of certificated and classified staff/ plan, organize, develop, recommend, and evaluate programs, processes, and procedures/ serve as a resource to school districts, charters and the office in the assigned area of specialization/ assist in the coordination of the project budget development plan and implement strategies to ensure budgetary compliance/ conduct special studies and professional development/ monitor legislation and provide interpretation and guidance/ coordinate, monitor, and review project services with local, county, state, and federal agencies/ and perform other related duties as assigned. This position requires expertise in teacher development as it relates to Induction Program, District Intern, and Added Authorization Programs. Under administrative direction, the Coordinator II plans and delivers mentor training, coordinates and schedules classes for programs, and selects appropriate staff to deliver instruction in each program areal Working with these programs requires a significant amount of interaction with clients and the ability to multitask efficiently. The Coordinator II also collaborates with internal Los Angeles County Office of Education staff, and other district Beginning Teacher Programs staff for planning, directing, implementing, and resolving issues related to the specified programs. The position also requires the provision of leadership in the interpretation and application of state and federal laws and regulations. The Director or higher-level administrator gives administrative direction.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Experience: Three or more years of comprehensive, directly related, and progressive educational administrative experience, including the areas of new teacher development, induction, District Intern and Added Authorization Programs. Administrative experience may include Teacher on Assignment, district and/or county level administrative positions in K-12 education. Education: Equivalent to a Master’s degree in education or closely related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE (Must attach a detailed certification/credential with document number to application: • Possess and maintain a valid K-12 Teaching Credential. • Possess and maintain a valid Administrative Services Credential.
