ABOUT THE POSITONLong Beach Community College District is currently seeking a Full-Time tenure Geology Professor commencing with the Fall 2026 semester. The teaching assignment may be at the Liberal Arts campus, the Trades, Technology, and Community Learning campus or other college teaching locations. The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, online or off campus and is subject to change as needed. • Demonstrated experience and commitment to integrating new technologies into the learning process, including but not limited to interactive technologies for on campus and on-line courses.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's degree in geology, geophysics, earth sciences, meteorology, oceanography, or paleontology
OR
• Bachelor's in geology
AND
Master's in geography, physics, or geochemistry;
OR
• Hold a valid credential to teach in the discipline;
OR
• The equivalent
AND
• Evidence of a sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage the classroom environment AND effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
Desirable Qualifications:
• Experience teaching/leading students in day-long and weekend-long field activities.
• Experience teaching historical geology lecture and lab courses.
