Position Summary: The On-Call Bilingual Clerical Substitute will provide general clerical support at the school site, filling in with all departments including Administration, Front Office, Food Services, etc. 1) The On-Call Bilingual Clerical Substitute will provide general clerical support at the school site, filling in with all departments including Administration, Front Office, Food Services, etc. 2) Assists students, staff and visitors on-campus in a warm and friendly manner. 3) Answers phone calls and provides information. 4) Assists in inventory control and receiving, check-in and sorting of meal deliveries. 5) Receives and sorts incoming deliveries of mail/packages for the school. 6) Provides administrative assistance to the Head of School, school staff and students. 7) Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail; processes outgoing mail. 8) Performs filing and copying tasks as needed. 9) Additional duties include being able to cover campus supervision responsibilities, including monitoring common areas, assisting visitors, supporting student movement, and helping maintain a safe and orderly school environment.
Requirements / Qualifications
Knowledge, Skill and Experience Requirements: 1) High School Diploma or GED equivalent 2) Bilingual English–Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking) required. 3) At least 1 year of experience working with youth in an organized setting; 2 years of clerical experience preferred. 4) Computer literacy required. 5) Experience handling confidential information. 6) Must be at least 21 years old. 7) Ability to maintain a positive attitude and build positive relationships with adolescents under stressful conditions. 8) Ability to communicate clearly and directly with students and visitors regarding campus expectations. 9) Ability to use tact, diplomacy, and conflict-resolution strategies effectively. 10) Ability to give clear and concise directions regarding behavioral expectations. 11) Ability to move about campus quickly and effectively. 12) Possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance; position requires DMV clearance. 12) Pre-employment screenings include a criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, drug screen, and previous employment verification. Working Environment/Physical Requirements: Position may require use of personal vehicle. Working environment is both indoors and outdoors. Physical requirements include walking, climbing stairs, standing for thirty minutes or more, sitting, typing, bending, and lifting up to approximately 25 lbs. Normal or corrected vision and hearing to supervise students. Normal ability to speak to communicate with students and staff. Modification to work schedule may be made based on need of the Academy.
