Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist Program Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and effectiveness of the Surgical Technology program in accordance with ARC/STSA and CAAHEP accreditation standards. This includes developing and maintaining a high-quality curriculum, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements, overseeing clinical site coordination, and monitoring student progress and outcomes. The Program Director provides instructional leadership, fosters partnerships with clinical affiliates, ensures that all students receive rigorous and relevant learning experiences, and promotes continuous program improvement to prepare graduates for successful entry into the surgical technology profession. Travel between clinical sites required seasonally.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education & Experience • Have a minimum total of five (5) years of experience, either in the operating room ST scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years. • Possess an Associate’s Degree or higher degree. • Possess proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design and program planning Credentials, Licenses & Certifications • Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on certifying Agencies (NCCA). Ex. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA). • Hold a relevant California Teaching Credential or qualify for a CTE credential (high school diploma and three years of relevant industry work experience in the last 10 years with one year in the past three years. One year equals a minimum of 1000 clock hours and the experience may be full-time or part-time, paid or unpaid.)
