Job Summary
BASIC FUNCTION Under the direction of the Director of Child Nutrition Services, assist in monitoring the equipment and computer programs of the Child Nutrition Services Department; assist in processing free and reduced student meal applications; assist in reviewing all areas of daily sales, production records, and site monitoring reports; and filling daily absences with approved substitute workers. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Assist in coordinating and maintaining a computerized food service system at all sites. • Assist in processing student free and reduced meal applications interacting with parents to ensure proper documentation; enter student eligibility into computer database for site kitchen staff awareness. • Manage negative account balances by communicating with households. • Assist in overseeing all areas of daily sales; entering sales data from the sites, communicating with the sites, maintaining sales logs from the bank, and running and verifying sales reports. • Assist in ensuring sites are in compliance with federal and state regulation, proper collection procedures, as established by the department and approved by the state, meal requirements and computer system. • Prepare and provide production records to sites; collect production reports and assure complete; and keep an accurate filing system. • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of department budget, expenditures and revenues. • Organize and process vendor invoices and statements in an efficient and timely manner utilizing appropriate technology and purchase order systems. • Assist site managers with completion of monthly and year-end inventory process. • Prepare for and assist with state and federal audit review as needed. • Monitor and maintain the in-house substitute process; call substitutes when needed, keep all necessary records to track substitute time and placement for each month. • Attend meetings, workshops and training sessions as directed by

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE OF: Federal and State regulations governing the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs as well as a thorough understanding of the meal application process. Computerized food services and student tracking applications. Inventory techniques. Operation and minor repair of a point-of-sales equipment and software. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Correct cash handling procedures. Basic math. Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to the food service operation. ABILITY TO: Coordinate and maintain in-house substitute process. Perform basic diagnosis and repair of point-of-service equipment at sites. Operate modern office equipment and computer terminal with various software programs. Operate automated coin and currency counting equipment. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with child nutrition staff, school site administrators, other school site personnel, parents and community members. Work independently with limited direction. Meet schedules and time lines. Plan and organize work. Maintain filing system for all required program documents. Prepare clear and accurate financial statements and report. Use a computer terminal with various software programs. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and three (3) years of experience in food service, with emphasis on computerized systems and regulated programs. Must be proficient in word processing and be familiar with computer software (i.e. budget, accounting, and spreadsheet). LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Valid California Driver’s License. - Proof of automobile insurance. - ServeSafe Certification or another comparable health certification.
