The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) Human Resources Department supports both the internal operations of OCDE and provides technical and advisory services to Orange County school districts, community colleges, and other educational agencies. Our department is committed to building a world-class educational organization through proactive, people-centered services in the areas of Human Resources, Benefits, Risk Management, Safety and Emergency Preparedness, and Employer/Employee Relations. OCDE is seeking an enthusiastic, professional, and service-driven Human Resources Technician to join our collaborative HR team. This role is at the heart of our department, serving as the welcoming face of OCDE for employees and guests while supporting a wide range of HR functions. The Human Resources Technician plays a key role in promoting a positive, professional, and people-focused environment by: • Supporting HR operations through accurate recordkeeping, data entry, and document management. • Assisting with employee records maintenance and related tracking activities to ensure compliance and accuracy. • Greeting and assisting visitors, employees, and applicants, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Graduation from high school or high school equivalency test • At least two years of progressively responsible experience in human resources functions, including specific experience in conducting applicant recruitment/selection • Experience in the California public education system is especially desirable.
