Job Summary
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the food service director, perform skilled cooking or and baking in large quantities in. Serve school meals to students. Participate in the preparation, set up, serving of food. Maintain large food service facility and equipment in safe and sanitary condition. Maintain various records related to assigned duties. Responsible for preparing and distributing meals to comply with all mandated school meal programs. Positions in this class should be proficient in both cooking and baking in large quantities.
Requirements / Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE OF: • Methods of preparing, cooking and serving foods in large quantities • Sanitation and safety principles applicable to food serving and kitchen maintenance • Basic kitchen utensils and equipment ABILITY TO: • Skillfully prepare and cook food items in large quantities • Plan and organize cooking preparation to meet fixed schedules • Operate a variety of equipment used in baking or cooking in large quantities • Increase and break down portions of recipes • Understand and carry out oral and written directions • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships • Complete work in a timely manner • Maintain current ANSI approved food safety manager certificate EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • High School or equivalent • Two full years of experience in the baking or cooking and serving in a cafeteria or restaurant, or two years at or equivalent to the level of Cafeteria Worker II in the Bonita Unified School District, preferred.
