Extended Day Programs Assistant at Glendora Unified School District
Requirements / Qualifications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assist Extended Day Program Specialists in implementing lesson plans and daily activities by providing positive learning experiences for children. - Assist Specialists in maintaining classroom discipline by observing the activities of the children and maintaining order. - Give each child individual and special attention each day; respond to each child’s particular needs and characteristics. Ensure that all children receive equal attention. - Maintain a safe and clean environment for children, perform light housekeeping, sweep floors, and wipe down tables and countertops after messy art activities, meals, and snacks. - Read stories, sing songs, play records and prepare and organize materials for children's activities. - Report to Specialists any signs of illness or distress observed in the children. - Provide personal hygiene assistance to children; assist children for short periods of time to accommodate health or mobility needs. - Prepare teaching aids, labels, charts, and displays as instructed. - Assist in planning, preparing, and serving simple nutritious snacks. - Help to ensure that program policies and procedures are followed at the school site.
Education and Experience: - Any combination equivalent to: a High School diploma or equivalent and at least six (6) months experience in a preschool or school-age child enrichment program, childcare setting, volunteer program for children, or coursework in Child Development. Licenses and other Requirements: - May require a valid California Driver’s License. - Valid First Aid/ CPR certification.
