Job Summary

Job Summary

Support and enhance the work of teachers in all components of the education process. Assist with a variety of functions, including planning activities in collaboration with subject teachers, implementing instructional programs, assessing student performance, and other tasks as needed by the instructor. Work under the direct supervision of the teacher, and often work with a specific learning population. Help ensure the health and safety of children within the organization. Assist teaching staff in classroom supervision, observation, and record keeping. Desirable Qualifications, Training, and Experience • Possession of a High School diploma or GED, and • Two years of college (48 units), or • AA degree (or higher), or • Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction. • Experience working with children. • Solid understanding of classroom settings and academic regulations. • Demonstrated basic reading, writing and mathematical skills. • Operation of basic office equipment. • Basic record-keeping abilities. • Ability to follow instructions provided by the teacher (verbal and written). • Able to be patient and positive with children, parents and school personnel • Health protocol related duties Knowledge of: • Classroom practices, methods and procedures. • School curriculum and academic programs of study. • Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills. • Use of office equipment, such as computer workstations and copiers Duties and Responsibilities • Prepare and organize paperwork and materials under the guidance of the teacher. This can include copying and distributing handouts, worksheets, exams or other activity materials. • Provide clerical support to teachers. • Assist in assessing student progress by administering assessments and exams. • Score teacher-developed tests and file information accurately. • Maintain confidentiality of student information • Provide necessary health protocol to students
