Job Summary
The Director/Instructor is responsible for the instruction, organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students enrolled in Simi Institute for Careers and Education Surgical Technology Program. In addition, the position entails professional cooperation with program staff, Simi Institute for Careers and Education, and program partnerships.
Requirements / Qualifications
Hold a relevant California Career Technical Education Teaching Credential - Health Science and Medical Technology OR qualify for a CTE credential (high school diploma and three years of relevant industry work experience in the last 10 years with one year in the past three years. One year equals a minimum of 1000 clock hours and the experience may be full-time or part-time, paid or unpaid.)
Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on certifying Agencies (NCCA). Ex. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA). Have a minimum total of five (5) years of experience, either in the operating room ST scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years. Possess an Associate’s Degree or higher degree. Possess proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design and program planning.
