This position is located in our Educator Preparation and Development Department, and reports to the Executive Director, Educator Development. The Director of Career Pathways will oversee three critical workstreams: support for educators on emergency permits, entry pathways to education, and educator apprenticeships.

THE POSITION: The Director of Pathways will lead Alameda County Office of Education’s initiatives to recruit and retain entry level educators in high school, college, and early in their careers as paraeducators and teachers. The Director of Pathways will work to identify, recruit, and support County residents who are interested in careers in education at a variety of entry points in their careers: as Paraeducators, Substitutes, Classified Staff, Early Career Teachers, and who might be interested in Aspiring Educator apprenticeships. The leader in this position will collaborate across institutions: with community colleges, LEAs in Alameda County, Linked Learning initiatives, and institutions of higher education. The Director of Pathways will oversee three critical workstreams: support for educators on emergency permits, entry pathways to education, and educator apprenticeships. This job reports to Assigned Administrator. LOCATION: 313 W. Winton Ave. Hayward, CA 94544 TYPICAL DUTIES: Deeply cultivating and communicating an equity-centered vision for expanding and widening the pathways into education careers. Developing and implementing strategy for promoting education-related careers in high schools, community colleges, and other community institutions throughout the County. Providing leadership and oversight for partnership development with LEAs, community colleges, and apprenticeship intermediary organizations to support aspiring educators in high school, college, and aspiring educators. Creating and distributing materials that make education career pathways transparent and clear. Being deeply knowledgeable about the educational options at all community and four-year colleges in Alameda County in order to develop and strengthen partnerships.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field required. Experience: Five (5) years of experience in district or county office leadership. Supervisory experience preferred. Equivalency: Equivalent combination of education and experience.
