Job Summary
Under the supervision of the principal, the Education Specialist promotes and facilitates student academic success, interpersonal skills, and social and emotional well- being by creating and implementing Individualized Educational Programs (IEP’s) for students with special needs. Works with the classroom teacher to support learning in the whole class, small group, and one-on-one settings. Administers and interprets IEP assessments, and communicates the results to parents and the IEP team. Collaborates with teachers, specialists, support personnel, administrators, SELPA representatives, parents, and other strategic members of the IEP team to promote the progress and success of students with special needs. Maintains the highest standards of integrity and professionalism as an employee of Sacramento Valley Charter School.
Requirements / Qualifications
1) Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university. 2) California Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teaching Credential from an accredited college, university or teacher preparation program 3) College Transcript (unofficial or official) 4) Completion or current enrollment in a CA Commission-approved Education Specialist Instruction Credential program 5) CA Education Specialist (Special Education) credential authorizing the holder to teach in the disability areas of specialization such as Mild/Moderate Disabilities
