JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Utility Worker The Utility Worker performs cleaning and custodial tasks on the district’s buildings and grounds. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The Utility Worker position requires the ability to: Perform a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and upkeep of equipment, classrooms, offices, building, and grounds Safely operate tools and equipment commonly used in custodial work Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Comply with schedules and meet deadlines Comply with Jamestown School District’s safety and cleaning protocols Utility Worker must also: Possess a California Driver’s License Possess Current Negative TB Test Pass required background checks and clearance Salary per 2025-2026 Classified Salary Schedule Range 170 $19.00 - $21.49 Work year will follow School District calendar Monday – Fridays 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm* * Schedule may be altered on early release, minimum, conference days or to comply with the needs of the district.

UTILITY WORKER

DESCRIPTION

The Utility Worker performs cleaning and custodial tasks on the districts buildings and grounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The Utility Worker position requires the ability to:

Perform a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and upkeep of equipment, classrooms, offices, building, and grounds

Safely operate tools and equipment commonly used in custodial work

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

Comply with schedules and meet deadlines

Pass required background checks and clearance

Certifications:

California Driver’s License

Current First Aid and CPR certification


DUTIES

Sweep, scrub, mop, vacuum, shampoo or wax floors and carpets

Refill paper towels & soap dispensers

Dust and polish furniture, wood and metal work

Clean and disinfect restroom walls, doors, mirrors, and fixtures

Empty trash and recycling

Clean blinds, windows, chalk/white boards

Pick up debris and water shrubs

Participate in staff development as required

Complete basic work orders, such as changing lights

WORKING CONDITIONS

Weather: Exposure to hot, cold, wet, snowy, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather

Heat: Exposure to non-weather hot temperatures

Noise: Expose to intermittent sounds of a pitch of level sufficient to cause marked distraction. Level: moderate to loud

Atmospheric conditions: Exposure to conditions, such as chemical fumes, noxious odors, dust, mist, gases, and poor ventilation, that affect the respiratory system, the eyes, or the skin

Hazards: Moving equipment, electrical shock from using electrical equipment, high exposed places, radiant energy, explosives (gasoline), cleaning solvents
