The Poway Unified School District is seeking applications for the 2025-2026 school year for a Boys Varsity Volleyball Head Coach at Mt. Carmel High School. Application Requirements: To apply for this coaching position, applicants must submit the following documents to Bailee Holt-Sandsmark, Athletic Director, Mt. Three (3) Letters of Recommendation Requirements/Qualifications: • Experience with high school and/or higher level of coaching experience in the sport including knowledge of coaching techniques, rules and regulations, and psychology as it relates to sports participation • A demonstrated ability to engage in positive relationships between student athletes, coaches and parents. • A demonstrated ability to serve as a positive role model for student-athletes and a commitment to holding all adults associated with the program to that same standard. • Engage in experiences that allow for student-athletes to develop and demonstrate leadership skills. • Engage in learning and skill development that supports all student-athletes in fulfilling their full potential. • A demonstrated ability to follow chain of command, instructions and directions as directed by school administrators. • Experience in cooperative working relationships with parents and athletic booster clubs. • Knowledge of and commitment to comply with the CIF Code of ethical Conduct for Athletic team coaches. • A demonstrated ability to meet timelines and time requirements as directed by the administration.
Requirements / Qualifications
Essential Duties: • Instruct student-athletes in the rules, regulations, equipment, and technique of the specific sport • Supervise players during practice and competition • Evaluate players’ skills and maintain fairness to all student-athletes • Collaborate with coaching staff to determine game strategy and practice plans • Maintain student-athlete roster and submit list as directed • Follow established procedures and protocols in the event of an athlete’s injury or other emergency • Model good sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, parents, officials, spectators and school staff • Maintain equipment, facilities, and playing field in orderly condition • Distribute and collect equipment, supplies, and uniforms to student-athletes as directed • Attend regular school and sports program meetings and collaborate with school staff • Submit regular reports on team status • Participate in special events to include parents’ night, banquets & award nights • Pursue growth and sustainability efforts such as recruitment and new team development as directed • Report any issues within team or with specific student-athletes to Athletic Director or Administrator.
PUSD & CIF Required Certifications/Training for Coaches All of the certifications are required to be submitted to the Mt. Carmel Athletic Department prior to start date: - NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching - NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest - NFHS Concussion in Sports - NFHS Heat Illness Prevention - CPR/AED/First Aid (through AMR or AHA, Online not accepted) - JPA Mandated Reporter Training - JPA Sexual Harassment Training - JPA Bloodborne Pathogen Training
