Requirements / Qualifications
Must have completed one of the following at the time of applying: 48 semester units of higher education; OR, an associates degree or higher; OR, passing score on the paraprofessional exam. If you need to pass the exam to meet the proficiency requirement, you may contact Human Resources at (530)822-2900. Proficiency exams are given approximately every two weeks.

As a Substitute Para-Educator, you will be working in our Special Education Programs and/or Alternative Education Programs on an on-call basis to provide assistance to the classroom teacher. Typically, you will be called on the morning of the day you are needed to work, usually between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
It is a requirement that all Substitute Para-Educators have a high school diploma or equivalent, and either 48 college units or passing score on the paraprofessional Exam administered by our office.
