Job Description and Duties

 

Are you interested in leading a team of a supportive and dedicated members working with school districts to ensure students are provided with safe, healthy, accessible and educationally advantageous learning environments? Join the School Facilities and Transportation Services Division (SFTSD) team!
Under direction of the SFTSD Director, the Education Administrator I (EAI) provides leadership, managerial direction, and supervision of the Facilities Planning Policy and Standards (FPPS) staff and has oversight of FPPS services, programs and internal operations. The EAI is responsible for coordinating FPPS activities with other California Department of Education divisions and other state and federal agencies, responding to requests for technical information regarding program operations and policy, and communicating with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. The EAI may conduct special research projects, prepare special reports at the request of the Director, and supports the Director’s strategic direction of the FPPS and the Division.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.

- Possess strong analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Have extensive knowledge of the state school facilities program and related policy and law.
- Have knowledge of the inter-workings of the SFTSD and the CDE, including knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process.
- Have a familiarity of the impact school facilities design and construction have upon student learning.
- Knowledge of techniques of program development and evaluation; methods of administrative problem solving; processes of community and group interaction planning procedures.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of multidisciplinary professional and administrative staff and integrate the activities of a diverse and geographically distributed program to attain common goals.
- Ability to effectively balance multiple tasks and changing priorities and to coordinate and manage concurrent assignments efficiently and independently to meet deadlines.
