General Description of Position Goals Under general supervision from the Director of Security, patrol District sites and adjacent areas to protect students, staff, equipment and property from criminal activity; respond to security alarms and calls for assistance at District sites; report criminal activity.

Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Knowledge of City, State, and county ordinances related to theft, arson, vandalism, malicious mischief and trespassing in order to evaluate incidents and take appropriate action. Child abuse identification and reporting procedures Awareness and identification of drug/alcohol abuse and gang related activities, behavior and attire. Adolescent behavior and variations, school community, community socioeconomic status and attitudes Insight counseling for troubled youths. Job Requirements/Qualifications 1. Education: High School Diploma or the equivalent 2. Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a security guard or law enforcement officer; preferably in a school district setting. 3. Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing: High School Diploma or equivalent PC 832 SB 390 BSIS (Bureau of Security and Investigative Services of the Department of Consumer Affairs - Education Code 38001.5) 24-hour Campus Security Office course. Bicycle Patrol Certificate as a pre-employment requirement. First Aid/CPR Certification Guard Card, OC (pepper spray) Certificate, Baton Certificate under BSIS. Valid California Driver’s License Successful completion of a pre-employment medical examination and thereafter, an annual medical physical examination. Incumbents will be required to work schedules that will include evenings, weekends and graveyard shifts. Incumbents will be required to participate in the District’s random drug testing process.
