Job Summary

DEFINITION Under the supervision of the site administrator and immediate supervision of a teacher, assist students with disabilities to meet their Individual Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives and perform a variety of supportive tasks to assist teacher with facilitating school and classroom activities and life skill development. Requirements / Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS • Knowledge of basic first aid, CPR, and emergency treatment procedures. • May be required to obtain and maintain in current status certificates necessary to provide routine physical/medical care to disabled students. • Knowledge of methods, techniques and procedures for lifting and moving children who are unable to move. • Experience in an educational setting with children as an assistant, school babysitter, or volunteer work with children. • Knowledge of general behavior characteristics of mild to moderately disabled children. • Must successfully pass the Garvey School District Written Test. Desirable: Bilingual in English and in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin and/or Vietnamese.
