Requirements / Qualifications

The Vacancy: There are a few part-time (up to 6 hours a day) positions at various school sites. Positions are for special education classes, and one-on-one instructional classroom aides to work with students with special needs (including behavioral, medical, etc.). This recruitment will also be used to develop an eligibility list to fill future part-time vacancies and substitute/temporary positions in this classification for up to six months. The Position: Under the supervision of an assigned supervisor, provide individualized instruction and guidance to students with intensive academic, behavior, emotional, adaptive, and/or physical needs. Perform a variety of special duties relative to the assigned student in addition to performing the regular duties typical of an instructional aide. Individual duties may vary based on the student’s needs and the particular assignment.

Required Qualifications: A High School Diploma or GED; an AA degree or a minimum of 48 college units, and possession of a valid First Aid/CPR training certificate. Experience working with students with disabilities is desirable. Bilingual in any language including American Sign Language is highly desirable. Selection Procedure: The selection process will consist of a written exam and a qualifications appraisal interview (each weighted 50%). The following must be submitted with application:

  • Copy of Transcript (48 college units)
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (certificate must be up to date)
  • Letter of Introduction
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (Three, no older than a year, signed, and dated.)
  • Proof of HS Graduation
  • Resume
