Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Special Education, the Translator/Interpreter (Spanish) translates a variety of technical, legal and medical documents and provides consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for functions and meetings, from English to Spanish or visa versa, primarily in support of the District’s special education program.

Requirements / Qualifications

- Graduation from high school or equivalent - Two years of translation and interpretation experience. - Experience working in a school setting is preferred. - Valid California driver license. - A professional certificate of translation skills from an accredited institution or program is highly desirable.

Examination process: Completed applications are reviewed and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in the following examinations: Performance exam, weight: 40%, and Qualifications Appraisal Interview, weight: 60%. The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as open/promotional-dual certification: candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and pass the exams are placed on an eligibility list. The list is used to fill current and future vacancies for six months. If a candidate has taken the multiple choice and/or performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years, candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment. The exam must be sufficiently similar, as determined by the Director, Classified Personnel. Prior to the application deadline, a request to transfer score(s) should be e-mailed to: barbara.bass@sduhsd.net. Transferring of exam scores does not apply to a Qualifications Appraisal Interview. Veterans may be eligible for preference points on examinations. Please attach a copy of your DD214 to your application. Employment with San Dieguito Union High School District is contingent upon successful completion of post-offer background check, fingerprinting, physical exam including tuberculosis, drug and alcohol screening, and an Oath of Allegiance.
