Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Principal, our English Language Development(ELD) / International High School (IHS) Teachers create lesson plans to teach non-native speakers to read, write, speak and understand English. They help students learn English grammar, pronunciation, and conversational skills. ELD/IHS Teachers are expected to improve the reading, writing and speaking skills of the increasing population of global newcomers to Highlands. ELD/IHS Teachers will plan, implement, monitor, and assess a classroom instructional program. In addition to ELD instruction, we are seeking High School Teachers to teach a variety of Core Studies and Elective subjects for AM and PM shifts. Teachers in these areas will play a key role in supporting students’ academic growth, career readiness, and personal development. Core Subjects . Math . English . Social Science . Science Electives . Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) . Media Arts . Reading for Pleasure . Health & Wellness . Personal Finance . Public Speaking These courses are designed to strengthen students’ foundational knowledge while fostering creativity, communication skills, and practical life skills. Requirements / Qualifications

A copy of passing CBEST results (If applicable) , Bachelor’s Degree Required , Proof of Teaching Credential or CTC document number

. Any combination of education and/or experience working in Adult Education related activities or an English as a Second Language setting is preferred; previous industry experience in English as a Second Language is desirable. . Meets the State's Basic Skills Requirement established by the CCTC . Worked or volunteered in an education-related field (e.g., tutor, substitute) for the equivalent of three years preferred . Possess or qualify for an Adult Education Elementary and Secondary Basic Skills teaching credential, or a Multiple Subject credential, or any Single Subject credential . The ability to communicate with a diverse group of people on a daily basis . Possession of a valid California driver's license
